OUTCOME
One of the greatest challenges of the design was to ensure that although the building was substantial, the rear open space would not be cast in shadow throughout the year. Because of this, massing and shadow studies were a critical starting point.

The main bedroom and two living areas are placed on the ground level. A large stair void is located to the centre of the plan, bringing in light and dispersing it to the adjacent rooms. The upper level is the kids’ zone where each bedroom has their own ensuite. Also incorporated is a rumpus area and communal study room.
