BRIEF
On a fantastic street in Middle Park, this long site has both street and laneway frontages. The owners were seeking to perform a minor update on the front of the house but also extend to the rear and add an additional storey. From the lane-way, there would be access to a new double garage with a private studio above.

The theme of the images they collected in their scrap book contained finishes of brass, natural stone, timber and quality fixtures and fittings. The consistent feel was one of sophistication and glamour.

OUTCOME
The existing front of the house contains the lounge, guest bedroom, and main bedroom with new ensuite and walk-in-robe. Once through the entry hallway, you are greeted by a circular stair with brass railings and stone steps. Light bounces around the space from the adjacent light-court and windows above. The kitchen and adjacent walls have premium timber panelling and the television unit wall in the lounge has feature wallpaper. Steel French doors open up to the courtyard beyond.

The upper level contains two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a rumpus area. Both the rumpus and rear bedroom have vertical blades to their window to restrict the view into the adjacent properties. A skylight and a section of glass floor next to the rear windows blur the line between inside and out.

The courtyard has an inground pool, pergola, and an outdoor fireplace with a pizza oven. From this space there are views into the garage through another set of steel French doors. The garage has its own toilet, kitchenette, and store area.

The studio is a multifunctional area where its uses can range from being a home theatre, office, or self-contained unit for guests or older children. The bedroom and studio area also have vertical blades to their windows. These allow for views back down into the courtyard.

The combination of beautiful spaces and an incredibly functional floor plan makes for a home that you will not want to leave.
